Karlynn’s Recipe Notes
- Skill Level: This is a very easy recipe.
- Total Time: These bars take only 10 minutes to assemble.
- Variations: Try adding some chocolate chips for adding sweetness and crunch. Add some colourful sprinkles to make these even more vibrant, or a scattering of shredded coconut for extra texture. Use a different type of melted marshmallows to hold the cereal together.
- Tools Needed: For this recipe, you’ll need a 9×13 pan, a large pot, measuring cups, and a spoon.

What You’ll Need For Ingredients
Cereal: The Squishmallow cereal used in this recipe is readily available in the United States but may be more difficult to find in Canada. If you can’t find this specific cereal, you could use any similar cereal with marshmallows in it, such as lucky Charms.
Marshmallows: This recipe calls for white mini marshmallows, but feel free to use any marshmallows you like. Big, small, colourful, or flavoured, you’ll be melting them to hold the cereal together.
Butter: This is a recipe that will benefit from salted butter. If you only have unsalted butter or margarine or another plant-based alternative, just add a pinch of salt once it’s all melted.

How to Make Squishmallow Cereal Treats
This is a brief overview of the recipe. The full list of ingredients and step-by-step instructions are in the recipe card below.
- Lightly grease a 9×13 pan and set it aside.
- Collect a handful of marshmallows from the Squishmallow cereal and set it aside for sprinkling on top of the bars later.
- Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until they’re fully melted. Stir in the vanilla and remove the pot from the heat.
- Pour the cereal into the pot and stir until it’s coated completely. Spoon the mixture into the greased pan and then add the reserved Squishmallow marshmallows on top. Press the bars into an even layer in the pan.
- Let them sit until they are firm. Do not refrigerate.

Storage Instructions
Store these bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Do not refrigerate them or they will solidify and become impossible to eat.
Freezer: It’s best not to freeze these. But if you need to, wrap them individually in cling wrap, then place the bars into another freezer safe bag, and freeze for up to 3 months. Then simply remove, defrost at room temperature, and enjoy.
