Karlynn’s Recipe Notes

  • Skill Level: This is a very easy recipe.
  • Total Time: Mixing this seasoning will take you less than 5 minutes, as long as you know where the ingredients are.
  • Variations: Play with the precise amounts of each herb. Forgo the red pepper flakes if you prefer no heat, or add however much you’d like for a spicy seasoning. If there are any other herbs you enjoy in sauces, go ahead and experiment with those.
  • Tools Needed: For this recipe, you’ll need measuring spoons, a small bowl, a whisk or spoon, and an airtight container. Optional: Cute spice jars and fun labels.

What You’ll Need For Ingredients

Herbs: A classic blend of thyme, basil, oregano, parsley, and rosemary make up the base for this seasoning blend. These are herbs that you’ll typically find in Italian food and they taste amazing together. For storage purposes, the herbs need to be dried.

Onion and Garlic: The recipe calls for powdered onion and garlic, but you could also try other dried varieties that come in bigger pieces. Minced and dehydrated garlic or onion is often available in the spice aisle.

Heat: If you would like to add some spice to your seasoning, red pepper flakes are a great place to start. You can use as much or as little as you like to achieve the level of heat you’re looking for. You can also try adding some cayenne pepper or chili powder.

Karlynn’s Tips and Tricks for Making Spaghetti Seasoning

What To Use it For: We are all looking for a fast meal during a busy workweek and this spaghetti spice mix saves you time. A fast recipe is my Crockpot Spaghetti and Meatballs using store-bought jars of tomato sauce. You can add this spice to bring out the best flavors! This Instant Pot Spaghetti without meatballs is also a great recipe for those pickier eaters! Sprinkle some of this seasoning on Pepperoni Bread or a French Bread Pizza.

Fresh Herbs: While you can’t preserve a mixture of fresh herbs as easily, you could absolutely try this seasoning blend with fresh ingredients if you’ll be using it immediately. This is an especially convenient option if you have a season’s worth of tomatoes to turn into sauce and happen to also have an overflowing herb garden.
