Karlynn’s Recipe Notes

  • Skill Level: This is a very easy recipe.
  • Total Time: These shrimp take 10 minutes to make.
  • Variations: Modify the seasoning to your own personal tastes, or use a totally different seasoning, like Shrimp Seasoning. Increase the amount of garlic, fry some onions in the pan with the shrimp, or use this spice rub but put your shrimp on skewers and grill them on the barbecue.
  • Tools Needed: For this recipe, you’ll need a small bowl, a spoon or whisk, a large skillet, and some tongs.

What You’ll Need For Ingredients

Shrimp: You can use whatever uncooked shrimp you’d like for this recipe. Make sure to clean and devein them if that hasn’t already been done. Adjust your cooking time according to the size and thickness of the shrimp.

Cajun Seasoning: You can easily make Cajun Seasoning on your own or buy some. The traditional base mix is cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic, salt, and pepper. With the personalization of other spices, you can add more flavors you enjoy.

Karlynn’s Tips and Tricks for Making Cajun Shrimp

Don’t Overcook the Shrimp: Overcooked shrimp lose too much moisture and become rubbery. Small shrimp are easy to overcook. The rule of thumb for shrimp is to cook medium shrimp for approximately 3 minutes, large shrimp for 4–5 minutes, and jumbo shrimp for 6–7 minutes.

Serving Suggestions: Serve these spicy, juicy shrimp with Corn Fritters and some Classic Homemade Coleslaw. You could add it to a barbecue spread along with BBQ’d Steak With Sauteed Vegetables or Easy Garlic BBQ Chicken and Campfire Chili Cheese Fries. Maybe even just throw them on top of your favourite salad as a protein.

Storage Instructions

Fridge: Once its fully cooled, you can store leftover shrimp in a sealed container in the fridge for 1-2 days.

Freezer: You can store shrimp in a sealed container in the freezer for several months. To avoid freezer burn, try putting leftover cooked shrimp in a vacuum storage bag or squishing as much air as possible out of a zipper seal bag.
