What is in a Chunky Monkey Drink?

The Chunky Monkey is a frozen cocktail that is very popular for those who love chocolate. To make it, you’ll need the following ingredients handy:

  1. Banana Liqueur
  2. Dark Creme de Cacao
  3. Chocolate Drizzle / Sauce  (Usually found in a squeeze bottle of some kind)
  4. Chocolate Ice Cream
  5. Milk

Is Chunky Monkey Vegan?

As it’s normally made, no as it contains dairy products. However, you can easily make a vegan version of this drink using the directions below.

How to Make a Vegan Chunky Monkey

Substitute the chocolate ice cream in this recipe for Ben & Jerry’s Vegan Chunky Monkey ice cream and use non-dairy milk such as almond milk or similar.

What is Crème de Cacao?

Crème de Cacao is a chocolate liqueur that has an aroma that smells like sweet cocoa, baked brownies and milk fudge. It has a fudge brownie flavor and usually has a 15% alcohol content. A good version of it is sold by McGuinness and looks like this:

Who says you can’t drink your dessert? Save room for this one, trust me it’s worth it. The combination of chocolate and banana make an amazing combination but be careful, it tastes so much like a dessert you may forget it has alcohol! Love chocolate? Try my Homemade Mint Hot Chocolate Mix.
