Strawberry Smoothies
Making these Strawberry Smoothies healthy was the first order of business. I made two options for these because our kids are not able to enjoy much when it comes to dairy due to a lactose intolerance so we made both the standard versions which incorporate milk products and non-dairy versions which I’ll share below. For the non-dairy option, it’s pretty comparable taste wise and the kids enjoyed them thoroughly so I think they work well for those of you with kids or family members in the same boat.
How to Make Strawberry Smoothies
This is just a quick list of the ingredients, intended to serve two people or make two smoothies, please see the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post for the exact amounts.
- Milk
- Honey
- Yogurt
- Fresh Strawberries
To prepare, combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour into two hurricane style glasses (or similar size) and serve garnished with a fresh strawberry.
How to Make Dairy-Free Strawberry Smoothies
For the dairy-free version, you are going to substitute the ingredients in the recipe card below for the following:
- Oat Milk (or soy / almond if you prefer)
- Honey
- Coconut or soy strawberry yogurt
- Fresh Strawberries
To prepare, combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour into two hurricane style glasses (or similar size) and serve garnished with a fresh strawberry.
Tips for a Thicker Strawberry Smoothie
If you want your smoothie to be thicker, double the amount of strawberries (we used 8 fresh ones to make two drinks) and lower the amount of milk by 1/2 cup. This will give you a thicker end result. Personally, I found the measurements we used to be good for our family but some people want more of a milkshake end result, so there’s how you can do it! The best part of this recipe is that you can simply play with the quantities until you find what works best for you.
Enjoy!
