How To Make Hamburger Casserole Your Own

One of the best things about learning how to make your favorite box meals from scratch is that you can swap out ingredients and really get creative.

Perhaps one of the easiest ways to alter your Homemade Hamburger Casserole recipe is by trying out different types of cheeses. Why not try a combination of cheeses such as gruyere, cheddar, and parmesan. Or Swap half of your cheddar for Monterey Jack cheese. The great thing about this recipe is that the cheese combinations are endless, so why not have some fun with it.

When using different cheeses, just remember to keep the total amount of cheese going into the dish the same as the recipe in order to keep the consistency of the sauce the same.

You can also try using other types of ground meat in place of the beef. Ground chicken or turkey mince works great for anyone looking to maximize protein while minimizing calories. This recipe is also the perfect way to use up any leftover meats that you have in the fridge from previous meals.

How To Make A Vegan Hamburger Casserole

If you loved Hamburger Casserole as a child but have since decided to switch to a vegan diet, childhood favorites are probably some of the foods that you miss the most. The good news is that with a few very simple adaptations, you can make a vegan Homemade Hamburger Casserole that will be sure to bring back all of those memories.

The most obvious ingredient in Hamburger Casserole that will need swapping out is the ground beef mince. There are tons of vegan alternatives to ground mince, so why not pick up a few different options and try them out in this dish. Soya and pea protein are two of the most common vegan ground meats.

The next things to consider are the cheddar cheese and the sour cream or yogurt. Finding vegan alternatives for both of these items should be easy, and you might even find that you already have them in your fridge. Almost every grocery store sells vegan cheese, and a lot of them taste just like real cheese.

Vegan sour cream is not something that is as widely available, but if you have a vegan superstore in your area, you might find a few good options. Alternatively, try using vegan yogurt, which is now almost as common as dairy yogurt and is typically sold side by side in stores.

Once you have all of your vegan alternative ingredients, simply follow the recipe steps just as you would with the meat version of this dish. You now have a delicious, vegan version of one of your favorite childhood meals!

yummy, easy to make. I used cream cheese instead of sour cream and added a tablespoon of butter. I would add some spice ( chili flakes) next time but it was still good5 stars
