What You’ll Need for Ingredients
Grilled Chicken Breasts: You can’t really have a chicken sandwich without these. Use my Grilled Chicken Breast recipe for tender, juicy chicken that’s packed with flavor. Karlynn’s Tip: You can also use leftover chicken if you have it on hand, like rotisserie chicken or chicken from last night’s dinner!
Sesame Seed Buns: This recipe calls for a classic sesame seed bun since the chicken is meant to be the star here. That said, feel free to swap in your favorite bread or roll if you prefer something different!

Veggies: Lettuce, tomato, and red onions add freshness, crunch, and balance to the sandwich. Karlynn’s Tip: You can also toss in extra toppings like sliced cucumbers, pickles, or avocado for more flavor and texture.
Mayonnaise: Mayonnaise adds a creamy richness without overpowering the chicken, and it pairs especially well with the honey mustard.
Cheese: Mozzarella works beautifully here thanks to its mild taste. Karlynn’s Tip: If you don’t have mozzarella on hand, you can easily swap in provolone, cheddar, or Swiss depending on your preference!
How To Make A Grilled Chicken Sandwich

- Prepare your buns by laying them face open on a plate.
- Spread any of your favorite sauces on the top and bottom sides of the sliced buns.
- Place 1-2 lettuce leaves on the bottom buns.
- Add the grilled chicken, cheese, tomato, red onions, and extra sauce if you’d like, then close the sandwich and enjoy!


Storage Instructions
These chicken sandwiches are best enjoyed fresh, but they can still be stored for easy lunches or meal prep throughout the week!
Refrigerator: Store the cooked chicken separately from the bread and toppings whenever possible. Place everything in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 4 days. This keeps the bread from getting soggy and the veggies crisp. When ready to eat, reassemble the sandwich and enjoy.
Freezer: You can also freeze the grilled chicken for longer storage. Wrap it tightly or place it in freezer-safe containers for 2-3 months following USDA food safety guidelines. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating and assembling your sandwich.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Ingredients
- 4 Grilled chicken breasts
- 4 sesame seed buns
Toppings and Sauces
- ¼ cup Garlic Aioli
- mayonnaise
- honey mustard
- lettuce
- tomatoes, sliced
- red onions, sliced
- mozzarella cheese, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare your buns by laying open faced on a plate.
- Spread your favorite sauces on the top and bottom side of the sliced buns.
- Place 1-2 lettuce leaves on the bottom sides.
- Add the grilled chicken, (Mozza slice if preferred) sliced tomato, sliced red onions, a bit more sauce if you want it saucy and close the sandwich.
- Enjoy!
