Thanks for sharing this recipe. These are incredible…. sooooooooo good! I have made them a few times, and we all love them. I have also used the same recipe with thighs and drumsticks!

Karlynn’s Recipe Notes
- Skill Level: This recipe is easy and beginner-friendly. Anyone can make these wings with confidence!
- Total Time: Your chicken wings are ready in about 35 minutes from start to finish.
- Variations: Pair these wings with my Chicken Fried Rice and Homemade Teriyaki Sauce as a dip or glaze. For a spicy twist, you can also add diced jalapeño or red pepper flakes into your garlic oil before drizzling!
- Tools For This Recipe: You will need a small bowl for the seasoning, a large baking sheet, a skillet, a large mixing bowl, a spoon for drizzling, and a serving platter.

What You’ll Need for Ingredients
Party Wings: These wings bake into crunchy, golden perfection and make enough to feed a crowd – about 36 per batch. Karlynn’s Tip: Pat the wings extra dry before seasoning to help the skin crisp up beautifully in the oven.
Salt & Pepper: The simple seasoning blend that delivers a classic, savory wing every time. Karlynn’s Tip: Toast whole peppercorns and crush them yourself for the boldest pepper flavor, or use pre-ground pepper, which works just as well!
Sesame Oil: Sesame oil adds a toasty, slightly nutty taste that takes these wings from good to unforgettable!
Green Onion: Diced green onions add freshness, a little crunch, and a pop of color that brightens the whole dish. Karlynn’s Tip: Thinly slice some of them on the diagonal for a nice garnish that clings beautifully to the wings.
Garlic: Fresh chopped garlic adds a rich, aromatic flavor that infuses the oil and spreads through every bite!
How To Make Amazing Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings
This is a quick overview of the recipe. The full list of ingredients & complete step-by-step instructions are in the recipe card below.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F.
- Combine salt and pepper in a bowl. Place chicken wings on a lightly oiled baking sheet and sprinkle them with the salt and pepper.
- Shake wings on the baking tray to completely coat them in the seasoning.
- Bake for 15 minutes, then flip the pieces and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes, until crispy and cooked to a safe internal temperature of 160°F. We like our wings very crispy!
- As soon as the wings are close to done, heat the sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add the garlic and onions.
- Cook until the garlic has browned slightly.
- Remove chicken wings from the oven and place them in a large bowl.
- Toss the chicken wings with the garlic oil until completely coated.
- Place on a serving platter, spooning any leftover garlic oil over the top.
- Serve and enjoy!

Storage Instructions
These salt and pepper chicken wings hold up well after cooking, so they’re perfect for make-ahead snacks or quick meals!
Refrigerator: Keep your cooked wings in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. They’ll stay juicy and flavorful, and reheat beautifully in the oven or air fryer.
Freezer: Once fully cooled, place the wings in a freezer-safe container or freezer bag. They’ll keep for up to 4 months, according to USDA food safety guidelines. Reheat straight from frozen in the oven until hot and crispy!

Karolyn, these wings are incredible. Salty, peppery, crispy, and all finished with that light golden garlic sesame coating! YUM YUM! My husband said these tasted very close to his favourite Salt and Pepper Shrimp from a Chinese restaurant he visits when he travels to Montreal. (Obviously they don’t taste like shrimp LOL but the salt, pepper, garlic, green onion, sesame flavours just sing so nicely together) Will, for sure, be making these again.
I baked mine at 385 on convection bake, so that I could line my tray with parchment paper for quick, easy clean-up. I turned them a few times to get them golden and crisp on all sides and I did have to increase my cook time to approx 40 mins in total because I lowered the baking temperature. Wings still turned out beautifully crispy! We called them Broasted! Ha ha Thanks again for a fabulous recipe!

Ugh, having to scroll through a bunch of useless garbage writing and adverts. We get it, you fancy yourself as a burgeoning novelist. Just post the recipe, I don’t need to hear about how your annoying kids went to scouts.

Best and easiest recipe ever! I found it a couple weeks ago and I’ve made it 4 times now! Not one left on the plate. I used air chilled wings and I think that helps with them coming out crispy. Thanks!

This recipe is fantastic. I made a double batch for a special birthday celebration last night. It was a major crowd pleaser (no jalepeno’s used).
I do have a question. What kind of oil do you generally recommend with the 450 degree baking temp? I used Avocado oil because it has a high smoking point, but was curious what you use because it is not noted in the recipe.
Great job!
Anika says
These wings are delicious and my family loves them but I follow this recipe to the letter and it always takes way longer than 20 and my chicken always gets stuck on the foil thus ripping off some of the yummy chicken ☹

I’ve made a lot of Salt & Pepper wings over the years, that were fried and coated in flour/cornstarch. Look forward to trying a cleaner method. QUESTION: Do you use fresh wing/drumettes from the meat counter or Frozen?
Karlynn Johnston says
I have used both! Simply defrost the wings first!
