Raise your hand ( your glass?) if you’ve ever tried the Alabama Slammer Cocktail. This is one of Karlynn’s favourite cocktails and the reason that we tried out sloe gin for the first time. Now we keep a bottle of sloe gin on hand at all times. I like to think that since this cocktail is full of orange juice that we are really being healthy in the winter drinking these summery cocktails. (right??)

How to Make an Alabama Slammer

The Alabama Slammer has Southern Comfort, Amaretto ( my absolute favourite treat to sip on ice) and of course, orange juice. Somehow all of these combine to make a sweet and tangy cocktail that will soon become your new favourite.

Ingredients

  • 1 0 z. Southern Comfort
  • 1 oz. Sloe Gin
  • 1 oz. Amaretto
  • 2. oz. Orange Juice

Instructions

1. Combine in a Boston shaker with ice. Shake until the outside of the shaker
becomes very cold.
2. Strain through the shaker lid into a glass. Add ice if desired to keep drink cool.

Today’s cocktail is brought to you by the letter F for Federal Glass Cherries vintage glass. This is one of our most beloved patterns of vintage glassware to collect and is one of the hardest to find. We only have about 9 glasses so far and are always looking in the thrift stores for more!

Hope your Sunday is going great! We are in the middle of prepping for the Rose’s birthday party – do you think I can treat an Alabama Slammer like a mimosa? Why are mimosa’s ok at breakfast but I’m sure the Alabama Slammer isn’t?

A thought to think on.

Cheers!

Mike
