This ground turkey chili is perfect for when you want a healthier chili that still tastes fantastic! The kids didn't even know that it was ground turkey - a win!
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place the ground turkey and chopped onions in the skillet. Fry until the onions are softened and the turkey is cooked, drain if needed. Add in the garlic and fry for 2 minutes until browned and fragrant.
Spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray (the turkey isn't greasy so it can stick more) and place the in the ground turkey mixture, tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, mushrooms, ketchup and spices..
Cover the slow cooker, and cook 8 hours on Low or 4 hours on High. Season with salt and pepper at the end if needed.
Stove Top Instructions
Heat the oil in a larger sized stock pot over medium heat. Place the ground turkey and chopped onions in the pot.. Fry until the onions are softened and the turkey is cooked, drain if needed. Add in the garlic and fry for 2 minutes until browned and fragrant.
Mix in the tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, mushrooms, ketchup and spices. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and simmer for 60 minutes on the stove top, or until the beans have softened to your liking. Season with salt and pepper at the end if needed.
