Oil the top and bottom grids of the waffle iron with some vegetable oil then preheat to medium-high.
Whisk together the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, separate egg whites and beat until stiff peaks form.
In a large 4-cup capacity liquid measuring glass, mix the egg yolks first, then add in the milk, butter, oil, and vanilla, and stir until completely combined.
Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well.
Fold in the egg whites until just combined, trying not to over mix.
Cook in the waffle iron on medium-high heat OR on the setting that says Belgian waffles/waffles for around 5-8 minutes. The waffles should be very golden brown on the outside.
If needed, oil the waffle iron between waffles using a basting brush with oil.
Serve topped with maple syrup, pear syrup, sliced fresh pears, or whipped topping!
