  1. The Ultimate Sin Cookies Recipe
Stack of The Ultimate Sin Cookies on Wood

These are my new favorite cookie, so that says something.

It says “Break this recipe open in case of emergency“.

These were the result of a few things.

I had a major, major craving for chocolate cookies after supper one night.

I couldn’t find an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe that worked.

I had limited amounts of lots of different kinds of chocolate.

So this is like a kitchen sink cookie, except there is coconut, only brown sugar, no raisins or fruit.

So..I guess they are nothing like kitchen sink cookies, except the concept of putting everything but the kitchen sink in. You put every kind of chocolate in and dang it, if there WAS a kitchen sink made outta chocolate, it would be in there.

If I had a kitchen sink made out of chocolate, it would go a long way toward explaining why I never do dishes.

“I’m sorry honey. I ate the sink again.”

If you are reading my blog at this point, I beg you, my weirdness has nothing to do with how darn good these cookies are. Give ’em a whirl.

The crazy kitchen-sink-eating lady says so.

But truly, they ARE sinful. And when you have them warm…straight out of the oven….you are looking Lucifer straight in the eye and laughing at him.

Ingredients Needed:

1 cup of margarine
1 1/2 cups of brown sugar
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups of flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 cups of quick oats
1 cup sweetened coconut
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tsp vanilla

Ingredients Needed in Making Ultimate Sin Cookies

Cream together the butter and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla.

butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in the mixer

Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Then add in the flour…

Then add in the oats.

Then add in all the chocolate and coconut. If you want, feel free to add in more dark or milk chocolate. Another 1/2 cup of dark would be lovely.

Or white chocolate.

Or perhaps you feel like more milk chocolate.

The point being, more chocolate is better.

Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, and if wanted, flatten slightly. Cook at 350 degrees for 10-14 minutes.

And do try them warm and oh-so chocolatey gooey straight from the oven.

Awesome recipe, just tried it and they came out great.

  2. Joni says

Interesting! This will be a new experience for me, but I have faith in you….can’t wait to try and thanks for the reply!

  3. Joni says

Hi! Just found your website while looking for a good buttercream icing recipe, and I’m going to try yours immediately! These Ultimate Sin Cookies sound heavenly, but I want to make sure you used margarine & not butter?? I’ve never baked with margarine before – and if correct, do you think the cookies would freeze well?

    • Karlynn says

Hi Joni, I did use margarine in this recipe and you can definitely freeze them after you are done. Buttter might dry these out if you switch, they are very dense and ingredient packed.

  4. Melissa says

These look amazing! And, hilariously enough, I have the exact same set of silver tins!

    • Karlynn says

That means, of course, that you have excellent taste in kitchenware 😉

  5. Mary says

I recently read a novel that mentioned a cookie called Back Home to Heaven. Although the recipe wasn’t included it did however mention some of the ingredients such as choc. chips, butterscotch chips, oatmeal and coconut. The Ultimate Sin cookie is the closest that I could find. I am wondering what you think of adding the butterscotch chips. Would they make them tastier or ruin them? Everytime that darn cookie was mentioned in the book, my mouth watered and knew I had to find a recipe. Any help would be appreciated!!

    • Karlynn says

I can’t think that they wouldn’t be fantastic, but maybe try adding the butterscotch to the last half of the recipe and compare?

    • mflaum says

I’m reading The Crying Tree and found the reference to Back Home to Heaven cookies.  I think I’ll make some and see if they taste as good as they sound. thanks!

  6. Erin Mills says

I made these cookes this morning with a substitution of 2 1/2 cups of spelt flour since Jordyn can’t have wheat and they are AMAZING!

    Thanks for sharing

Glad you liked them, they are my go-to cookie now. As in go to the treadmill after eating a dozen 😉

  7. Lucy says

Woaaaah I just made these on a whim as I stumbled across your blog. I didn’t have quite enough butter (story of my life) so when the mix looked a little dry I added a bit of golden syrup; and I omitted the coconut as I didn’t have any on hand (although I can see how that would have been a great addition). I overcooked the second batch slightly and they’re STILL delicious!

Thanks for a great recipe, these are going into rotation 🙂

  8. April Brown says

These look yummy! I cannot wait to try them..
    Your blog is adorable 🙂

  9. Caddis says

Enjoyed the recipe and the cookies came out great. What I didn’t enjoy was following the directions only to discover that I had baking soda, baking powder and salt sitting on my counter after I’d added everything. Directions could be clearer.

  10. Alexandra says

I want to kiss these cookies and claim them as apart of my soul.
    They look so. wonderfully. good.

If those cookies are wrong I don’t wanna be right.
