Taste Alberta details

1. Liane Faulder has the awesomest red boots I have ever laid eyes on. I should have taken a picture of her boots instead of her and I. How weird would that have been?

2. The lighting in Shaw center is a photographers nightmare. Especially when that photographer is me.

3. I think we should call Mike “Magpie’s husband” from now on. It was almost catching on with a few folks, let’s keep it going.

4. You don’t know how much you want to hug Valerie until you meet her. Just sayin’.

5. I was delighted to meet Kevin and almost asked for his autograph. Maybe next time. I didn’t want to freak his beautiful wife out too much. (My inner voice is telling me that boat has sailed Karlynn, that boat has sailed.)

6. I deeply resented having to pick my children up in the West end of town when I found out it was a free bar.

7.  Deep down inside, I am such a meat and potato kinda gal it’s scary. But oh, tomorrow you will see why!

8. That I could eat two miniature Lola Canola Honey Creme Brulee’s and feel no shame. None. Zip. Zero and zilch.

9. Winning a basket with cheese in it was better than a basket of bath and body stuff. Hot dang was I excited!

10. Last, but most importantly, I learned that I am known as the Crazy Cranberry lady who got everyone started. So THAT’S what they all were whispering behind their hands. I thought it was just jealousy over my amazing gourmet cheese basket.

More to come tomorrow! I just thought I would tease everyone while waiting impatiently for the finale of America’s Next Top Model to come on. Yes, you read that correctly. I enjoy losing a few IQ points every now and then.

Almost forgot: I’m an ANTM fan, too, as silly as it is! It killed me to miss last night’s finale — we should have considered that in our scheduling! I was too tired to watch when I got home so I’m trying desperately to avoid any tweets about the winner (though I’m pretty sure I know who it’s going to be). Lovely mindless TV…

  2. Kerry Powell says

Karlynn, you’re hilarious! I wish we’d had more time to talk last night. We’ll have to get together again sometime when neither of us has to drive somewhere to ferry our kids around (though I’m not sure I could arrange such a spectacular menu again!).
Thank you and Mike (Mr. Magpie) so much for coming. I’ll look forward to your next post.
    Kerry

  3. A Canadian Foodie says

What a fantastic post! Hilarious! I enjoyed meeting you SO much and I DO love hugging! The humour last night that I discovered in you is so apparent here, today, as well. I was already a FAN, and now I am a BIGGER fan (especially after all of the delectable treats last night!)
    XO

PS… yup… that is how I discovered you… high bush cranberries… and yup… Magpie’s husband OR Magpie Mike – either works for me!
    🙂 🙂

  4. Chris says

We didn’t meet, but we did cross paths. Next time!

Congrats on the basket by the way.
