Pancakes

Nothing says “It’s Finally The Weekend!” like whipping up a few stacks of homemade pancakes! I have a lot of pancake recipes on my website because we absolutely love making pancakes on the weekends. My Grandma’s Pancake Recipe is the standard one we use whenever I don’t have time to think up a new concoction and is a family favorite when covered with (also my Grandma’s) Homemade Brown Sugar Sauce as the topping instead of syrup.

My very favorite pancake recipe ever is my Stupid Good Pumpkin Pancakes. I want to make sure that no matter what  I’ve brought those to your attention because they are better pumpkin pancakes than any restaurant has ever made in the history of pancakes, and if you love pumpkin you absolutely have to make them.

This is the best homemade pancakes recipe from scratch. You can fool around with all sorts of other ingredients in a pancake recipe, but in the end it’s always Grandma’s recipe that rules them all. This was my Grandma’s and then my Mom’s recipe and now it’s all that I use for my family anymore! It’s perfect every time!

Tips & Tricks for the Perfect Pancake Recipe

  • Use a hot griddle but not too hot, because then you just burn the outside of the pancake and the inside is raw. Try using a medium-high heat setting.
  • Get a wide spatula/flipper. This will help you lift the pancake properly and turn it over.
  • IF YOU ARE USING SIFTED FLOUR, adjust your liquid measurements! I do NOT use sifted flour and that is why your batter could be too runny. Don’t sift your flour for any pancake recipes unless you are told to.
  • If your batter is too runny, simply add a bit more flour at the end.
  • Let the pancake batter sit and let the chemical reactions start occurring before you ladle it onto your griddle. This helps you get the fluffiest pancakes right from the start.
  • You can sub oil for butter and vice versa, but you will lose the butter flavor when you use oil, and you will lose the crispy edges when you use butter. The choice is up to you ( I prefer the butter flavor of course!)
