If you thought I panicked last time I took a gander at our lovely house in progress, think again, my dearest friend.  Driving up to the house to meet our sales rep to do our first official tour of the inside had Mike waving smelling salts under my nose to revive me.

The siding will be done today and nothing makes a house look more complete than the siding. Now I must admit, they are doing a wonderful job. We stopped and talked to one of them and I let him know that I think it looks fantastic. Nothing wrong with buttering up the people who are working on your house and letting them know you appreciate their work, but truly, it really looks fabulous so it wasn’t just being glib. The finishing looks wonderful, the color – which we didn’t get to pick- is perfectly lovely and neutral, a grey-ish green that I truly love.

There’s nothing like being shown a small tab of siding color and deciding based on that glimpse that yes, I can live with my entire house being that color.

I can live with my house being that color. Phew.

This is a side view of the yard, the house you see on the left with the pole is our house.

On to the inside!

This is a view of the kitchen and nook from the far corner of the living room. The pantry is the door on the right, then the nook is the windows on the left and the sliding door is the one you can barely see.

view of the on going kitchen construction

This would be the living room view from within the kitchen, I am incredibly excited about this room.

It’s mine.

It’s all mine.

There is no TV.

There will be a piano, a couch, comfortable chairs and possibly a fluffy rug of some type.

The far wall is going to be textured wallpaper of some sort.

I finally get an adult downstairs.

Eeeek!

This is looking down the two stairs into the laundry (far left)  the bathroom (straight on) and closet (near right). You will exit into the garage via the left hand side.

Main floor laundry, I love thee.

view of down stairs

This is everyone else’s room. The bonus room. It’s being wired for our monster TV and speakers, there will be book shelves for the kids and this is the family room.

It’s not all mine. I guess I can share.

Fireplace for stockings, of course.

The Princess’s room which is by ours and at the side of the house.

Oh look, another yard shot, this is from the master bedroom window. That’s my eating nook you see below. I love that nook.

I dream about the yard, I have so many plans for it I can’t even fit them all into my brain at once. Fruit trees, fruit shrubs, flowers, vegetable garden space, I have learned from so many mistakes that I am a woman on a direct mission with this yard.

I can’t wait to make more mistakes.

Speaking of the ensuite, there it is.

The kids somehow think this is their bathtub and I seriously need to set them straight.

Mike isn’t even going to be allowed to use it.

construction of the end suite

Here’s Mike’s shower. He gets to sit in it, I think that’s fair enough, no?

Mr K’s room, and that window is the window over the front door. He sleeps like the dead so he can handle the noise of the front better than his sister. It is smaller than hers but not by much. He is ready for a loft bed and desk below anyways so it’s perfect.

I love that this is the only bedroom that has a wall on the front of the house, the kids are both directly on the front right now and it can be loud.

The outside of the nook and my living room. I love the deck nailer board, it allows us to create such a useful deck space.

I didn’t notice this writing while we were in the house, hilarious. I would have preferred “redrum” for the creep factor, but I will take “help me” instead.

Like the reflection of me in that hardhat? They are tres sexy, I tell you.

This is my tough construction guy girl look. I was rather upset to remember later that Mike was wearing aviator shades, I would have thrown those bad boys on to complete the look.

Next time.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday! The sun is out, the kids have sunscreen and hats on, the skeeters are nowhere to be found, hallelujah!

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Congratulations on your soon to be new home. I love new homes, its so exciting to watch them go up. I like your comment about being nice to the contractors, I used to run them Tim Hortons coffees once and a while, seemed to make them happy. Anyways keep posting pictures.
    See you next week.

Pretty exciting! It is looking GORGEOUS! You need a couple of yards of dirt dumped in a corner for the plants you are taking until you grade next summer – or the next…. You must be SO excited! It looks like a Landmark home. Is it?

I don’t know what I’m more excited about.. the margarita machine, or the fact that we’ll still be friends next year.
