Peppermint Eggnog Martini

You know what I like? Alcoholic drinks that are composed of things that you already have in your cupboard or liquor cabinet like my Chunky Monkey cocktail.

Let’s face it, keeping a huge stash of liquor is expensive and takes dedication to make lists of everything you need for fancy drinks. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I do love a fine cocktail once in a while that’s full of things I don’t have at home, but that’s exactly my point. I don’t have most of the ingredients at home, so I will pay for a lovely drink while I am out dining.

When it comes to concocting alcoholic drinks here on The Kitchen Magpie, I don’t ever really delve into crazy complex drinks. I look at what I have on hand and go with the flow. Perhaps one year I will find the time to work on stocking my liquor cabinet better but for now, it’s all I can do to remember to replenish the flask on my nightstand most days.

By now I’m sure you all know how I rejoice when eggnog is released onto the shelves for the holiday season. Oh, the first sight of those cartons makes me giddy, I tell you, no word of a lie. I always, without fail, break into a huge smile in the middle of the grocery store when I see that eggnog is here!

By the way, there are many non-dairy alternative to eggnog and we enjoy a lot of them. The soy ones are pretty tasty and the coconut one as well, give them a whirl!

So this latest drink was made from what I had on hand in the kitchen, which means that I am sure you also most likely will have it on hand as well. It uses mint flavoring as well as crushed candy canes, something that I think most of us are baking with this time of year. No special mint schnapps or liquors, just plain ol’ straight from your cupboard mint flavoring. This drink would go great with my Peppermint Kiss Chocolate Cookies!

Not that one couldn’t fool around with some decadent schnapps, but let’s save that for a year when we are less busy.

This is about what you have on hand, without running to the liquor store.

To line the martini glass, you simply take some honey and smear it around the edge of the martini glass evenly. Then you place the martini glass upside down in a plate of crushed candy canes and voila! A beautiful mint rimmed glass! Prefer it without Peppermint? Try my Eggnog Martini instead. Well, I could wish you Happy Drinking, but does that sound kind of weird? Happy mixing? Happy Cocktail hour?

Whatever it is, thanks for stopping in!

Love,

Karlynn

I don’t think so. Really can’t imagine mint and eggnog together.

How about rum flavouring? Maybe would clash with the vodka.
