Patriotic color Oreo Cookie Pops with stick in a white plate

My dearest readers, are you also exhausted by the time Canada Day rolls around? The kids are barely out of school, we haven’t had a moment to catch our breath, to recycle the mounds of school work than came home with the kids, to sort through the supplies that filled their backpacks- this time all unorganized and tackle the day-to-day chores on top of the chaos?  Don’t forget we have to deal with the fact that the kids are home, a new routine starts and the terrible mess that follows children that are home all day.

I just feel asleep typing that.

So like you, I’m done this time of year. I adore Canada Day, I love this country and any chance to celebrate our Canadian awesomeness is right up my alley.

But I’m soooo dang tired come July 1st!

However ’tis the season for everything red, white and blue! Yes, I remember that I am Canadian, it’s rather hard to forget 😉 However, half of my lovely readers are Canadian and the other half of you are just as lovely Americans, so I like to try to make all of you happy when it comes down to holidays and recipes.

I already hear you saying “ Ah, Karlynn, you optismistic fool. You’ll never make everyone happy.”

True ’nuff.

BUT.

How does the thought of Oreo and Fudgee-O cookies made into pops then dipped into chocolate then sprinkled with colored sugar make you feel?

Hmmm? Does it make you feel HAPPY?

You’re a liar if you said no…and you’re also completely on the wrong website.

To start this recipe off, let’s go with a random guess that I just made 85% of those who are reading this happy.

I have red and white for Canadians. I have blue, red and white for Americans. I have Oreo’s for Oreo lovers and Fudgeo’s for those who prefer them- I sure do. They are so dang easy and take mere minutes, I kid you not.

All you need is:

  • your choice of Oreo or Fudgee-O cookies
  • two bags of melting chocolate (one red, one white)
  • lollipop sticks
  • assorted sprinkles

Then all you need to do is:

  1. Line a baking sheet (or two) with waxed paper and set aside.
  2. Melt the chocolate in two separate containers – fast and easy in the microwave.
  3. Gently break apart the cookies and set a lollipop stick into the centre of the side that has icing. Place a dab of chocolate in the centre of the cookie on top of the stick and place the other half of the cookie back on top. Press gently.
  4. Allow the chocolate to set in the middle so that the cookies are now sealed together.
  5. Dip the cookies into your choice of chocolate, tapping gently to make sure the excess chocolate drips off. Sprinkle your choice of sugar or shapes onto the chocolate.
  6. Set the cookies onto the wax paper and allow to set. It sets faster in the fridge.
  7. Enjoy!

I have a few more recipes coming up this week, all easy, all patriotic, all for both countries and all super-duper FAST. I get worn out sometimes prepping for big events and Canada Day is one of them.

So the upcoming treats have a lot in common. I used chocolate to dip a lot of things. I used lollipop sticks on more than one occasion.

There’s three more recipes consisting of red, white and blue coming up on this site.

I promise, oh my dears do I ever promise, that everything is so easy that you won’t hate me for posting them. You won’t roll your bleary, tired-out mother eyes to the ceiling and say “Yah right, because I have time for that”.

If anything the mere fact that I managed to whip up four creations during this week of last days of school hell oh God please let it end  joyous school should tell you how easy they are.

I love you guys. I’d never be mean and show you stuff you can’t do.

Man. I need some sleep. Right after I sneak out this bag of recycling that has my children’s school work in it, before they decide that everything in it is precious.

Thanks for stopping in everyone!

Love,

Karlynn

Thanks Paula! Hope you see tons of your grandkids this summer, my best memories are from when I stayed out at my grandma’s farm!

Love your dual patriotic celebration pops!  My kids are grown and gone but they both deal with the end of school year chaos with their own children now.  Best thing about summer is that they get a break when the grandkids come for visits that gloriously last longer than the weekends:)  Enjoy your summer!
