Healthy Halloween Candy Corn Fruit Martini

So let’s get serious here people.

I have to fit into my hip waders for duck hunting and it’s less than a week away. There’s not really a space allowance for any Halloween goodies weight gain. So I’ve been fooling around with healthier Halloween treats this year – don’t worry, there are still cookies coming-  to mix it up a bit and stave off the holiday pounds that start this time of year for us Canucks and doesn’t end until January 1st! This year I need healthy Halloween goodies more than every before.

These are so easy and a healthy alternative for your Halloween party.Parents are going to thank you for making a kids version (just use a plastic cup and layer) and adults who are watching what they eat will be so glad to have a delicious option to eat. Heck, everyone is going to enjoy these without feeling deprived of a treat.

Ingredients needed:

  • Canned or fresh pineapple
  • Canned or fresh mandarin oranges
  • low fat whipped cream
  • candy corn (optional but really, a single candy adds SO much to the look of this dessert!)

Start with a layer of pineapple, followed by a layer of mandarin oranges. Top with whipped cream and place a single candy corn on top.

This can easily be made dairy free with coconut whipped cream and gluten-free if you leave off the candy corn. However you can find a gluten free candy corn, there are some brands that make them.

This was an after school treat for the kids and you can just imagine how much they loved it! So much is in the actual presentation of a food, excepting the candy corn it’s all food they eat anyway. But oh my, put it into a glass, top it with whipped cream and all of a sudden it’s manna from Mama’s kitchen!

Happy Saturday everyone! What are your big plans for the weekend? I’m shopping at Bass Pro – last-minute duck hunting items like gee, AMMO that I have forgotten to buy- and early Thanksgiving dinner with my folks since my sister and I are in Manitoba for Thanksgiving this year.

I hope you enjoy this dessert! Thanks for stopping in everyone!

Love,

Karlynn

Ooh!  Healthy Halloween treats, looking forward to seeing more.  Last year Jr & I draw Jack-O-Lantern faces on mandarin oranges with sharpies, and they were popular with kids.
