Eggnog Martini

So you all remember how I teased you all on Instagram with this picture earlier last week, right? How could you forget this gorgeous drink..that I had with my lunch?

Oh yes, it’s a prerequisite for food bloggers to have martini’s at lunch. Heck, we are bringing back the three martini lunch, who’s all for it?

Now actually, I did tuck this beauty away into the fridge until supper time since I have to pick up the kids every afternoon from school. However just think, if I home-schooled I totally COULD have a martini for lunch!

This little gem is a Funfetti Eggnog Martini (and is delicious like my Peppermint Eggnog Martini). I love playing around with eggnog this time of year as eggnog is literally one of my favorite drinks ever. Plain, with rum, in baking, oh, it doesn’t matter how, I just love it. I do a little dance when I see that it’s back on the shelves for Christmas!

The martini itself is quite simple, three parts eggnog to one part vodka, it’s the Funfetti that makes this drink so festive. If you are inclined, you can put red and green sprinkles on the rim instead, but I wanted some brightly colored FUN on there!

To rim a glass like shown above, you simply take some honey and smear it around the edge of the martini glass evenly.

Then, when there is a ring around the edge, you turn the glass upside down into a plate of whatever it is you are choosing to rim the glass with. The honey makes everything stick like glue, adds a lovely taste to it and because it’s so strong you can do this hours ahead of time!

Just think, you can have a row of glasses for your guests all ready to go before they even get to your party!

I adore time-saving tricks like this.

Mmmm. This is festive and dang tasty. You can play with the amounts to make it stronger or weaker, but I liked it as it was. I also went traditional and put two drops of cocktail bitters into it as well, but you can make it without, seeing how bitters can be hard to source sometimes. What are your favorite holiday drinks? I find myself always so darn fond of spiced rum and eggnog this time of year. It’s always eggnog based drinks for me  since I wait all year for it to come, just like Santa 😉

Do you have any special drinks you make at home for the holidays? Mulled wine? Peppermint schnapps?

Oh, I might just have a peppermint drink coming along soon as well! Surprise, surprise, Karlynn made something else with peppermint!

Thanks for stopping in everyone!

Love,

Karlynn
