In case you live under a rock and have somehow missed my bazillion pictures and posts counting down to the big day, my family and I took a 6 night Disney Cruise out of Galveston, Texas over Christmas. The big day finally arrived when we boarded the ship and got to check out our cabin!
I will start the posts of our Disney Wonder cruise adventures with a walk-through of our cabin. Taking these pictures was no easy feat, let me tell you.
When you finally get to your stateroom, you have gone through a little bit of a process to get there, but Disney being Disney, it is ten times easier than any other process you will go through while travelling. You have a boarding time that you select online – I highly suggest getting one as early as possible, we were at 12:30 and it was perfect- and since you aren’t going onboard with a crush of people all at once, it’s a very peaceful process.You head on through customs, again very easy, then board the ship with your carry on luggage.
Your luggage is delivered later on around 5:30, so you have to make sure that you take important items with you.
When we entered our stateroom I immediately yelled “TOUCH NOTHING!” and because my family is used to me, they froze like deer caught in a pair of headlights. They are so well-trained.
However, in order to get good pictures, you have to take them before your children even step foot into a room and wrinkle sheets, touch everything and generally destroy the pristine beauty that Disney has created for you.
The room is approximately 223 sq ft sq ft with a queen size-bed, and a fabulous split bathroom with tub/shower combination. Floor to ceiling sliding glass doors lead to our private verandah which is around 45 square feet with two chairs and a small table.
There is a little living room with sofa bed, and privacy divider in the form of a curtain. The couch pulls out into a great little sofabed which I actually slept on the first night due to being a little queasy and the bed faced the right way for the waves to rock me haha! Head to toe! I’ll get to the queasiness and my suggestions in a post very soon!
The split bathroom is brilliant for families, allowing two people to get ready at once and most importantly, separating the toilet from a shower/sink area.
The room view from the verandah is shown below. Cute, little and was a perfect home away from home for 5 days.
There is a surprising amount of storage in the room, we didn’t even use all of the little cupboards and we unpacked everything. Disney had the most hangers in the closet I have ever seen at any hotel, approximately twenty, which gave Mike and I ten each. We used a cupboard for folded clothes and then put the empty suitcases under the bed which is just high enough for suitcases exactly. (Again, so smart because you need that space.)
The bed was fabulously comfortable (and we are picky, picky travellers), the stateroom was in good shape and is definitely comfortable family luxury. The ship has been around for 14 years now and it shows only very slightly. The pillows, cute pirate print decor, pretty wood cabinetry, clean fixtures, everything combined to give you a sense of being well taken care of.
The air conditioning worked fabulously, all outlets, the TV, the hairdryer, phone and alarm clock worked as well.
In each room you are given the superb Disney Cruise line toiletries.
You all know my obsession with hotel room toiletries by now, I am sure.
These slightly took me over the obsession edge here people.
Large, beautiful, luxurious and on par with my favorite Fairmont toiletries.
I might have a few sets of these stashed away in my suitcase. I’m not admitting anything.
All in all we were thrilled with our room. The verandah was used the whole time and was so wonderful to use when we were coming to ports and leaving ports. Everything was comfortable and perfect for a family.
The one thing I would point out is that this room is aft on the ship (the back end) so you do get some wave action. It’s less than the front for sure, but midship is the best for the least amount of wave action in your room.

If there is anything that’s going to be better than going on a week-long cruise, it’s going on a Disney themed one! I can hardly imagine how fun it is and also with all the hidden Mickey’s hiding in storage cupboards and in the toilets and like you posted, even on all the toiletries they give you! Fun!

Gravol (dimenhydrinate) is most commonly sold as Dramamine in the USA. Another option is meclizine which is sold as Bonine in the USA and isn’t commercially available in Canada. It only needs to be taken once a day and is helpful if sea sickness is a big issue for you. A compounding pharmacy may be able to make it up for you in Canada. All medications including these have side effects and drug interactions, so consult with your pharmacist for information and recommendations for what is most appropriate for you or your family.
I get terrible sea sickness and take meclizine so that I can enjoy cruising. That Disney cruise looks fabulous, but I think I will wait for grandchildren for that one.

@Brenda There seemed to be a lot of people sans children, I would TOTALLY go but I love Disney and that would make it awesome for me. I wish I had done more adult activities and we are planning on trying them out on our next cruise. There were so many awesome adult only things to do!

I’m kicking myself for not planning our next cruise while on the last cruise and getting an even better price and stateroom credit. Won’t make that mistake again!
I’m glad you had a fantastic time! Our last one was on the Wonder too, and I was amazed and the great shape it was in for it’s age. I’m already counting down the days until February for our cruise, we are on the Magic this time.
