I have so, so many posts to catch up on that I am not quite certain where to begin. So I just asked on The Kitchen Magpie Facebook Page for someone to make up my mind for me. Garden? Farmer’s Market? My dinner at L2?

And my friend Charlynn was Quick Draw McGraw and posted she wanted me to write up the Farmer’s Market first, then my garden second.

Of course she would have to choose the most photo intensive one first, as I bemoaned the fact that blogging my life means that I am forever editing photos.  But hey, let’s get the hardest one done first.

We almost always head to the wonderful outdoors market here in Edmonton, held downtown on 104th street on Saturday mornings. The weather recently has held up quite nicely on Saturday mornings and we have hit it three Saturdays in the past month.

The first thing you notice is the enticing aromas that encricle you as soon as you walk within a half a block radius of the street; not only is there food to purchase to prepare at home, but a wonderful assortment of instant eats to be found.

I cannot live without my Brig’s BLT with a “C” Crepe from the Fork and Spoon Brigade. My favorite Saturday morning breakfast.

I do apologize for the bites out of it, such poor food photo etiquette, did you know that? Rarely is a picture attractive with bites taken out of the food, thus they are the photos you should not be taking.

Oh well. I forgot to take a picture before I started chowing down. I’m really bad with rules.

I did take a picture of the kids waffle from Eva Sweet before they chomped on them, I am better at making my children wait while I take photos than I am at self control.

Do what I say, not what I do.

We were lucky enough to go one Saturday when there were extra performers around thanks to the street festival.

The Princess got her balloon animal….

It really upsets me that she just doesn’t get happy over anything, know what I mean? Seriously. Look at that sad face below.  Crack a smile or something.

Did I mention that the market is dog heaven?

My daughter is in raptures the entire market.

This beauty enthralled her for a long, long time.

Oh, Emma. We love you. We loved you so much that when I asked The Princess what your name was, she remembered two weeks later.

If you know Emma’s mom, you can let her know that I tried to make her famous. She said to her during her photo shoot,  “Emma! You’re going to be famous with all this picture taking!”.

Look at that face!  She’s a mini pinscher by the way, so I could have put her in my shopping bag and ran away.

Oh. Right.

There’s food at the market too.

And flowers.

And sticks of sugar happiness that make Mr K smile.

This was last weekend, I made my slave labor kids take their backpacks to carry their bread and peas. The pea table at Kuhlman’s is our favorite place to visit.

Cherries..

The peas to shell, which we eat straight out of the bowl all day. They rarely make it through the weekend.

Our favorite bread, a morning staple in this house from Prairie Mill Bread Company.

And that my friends, sums it up. Add in a bucket of honey every three weeks and that’s our weekly trip to the market. Peas, carrots, popcorn, bread and breakfast. Not bad at all!

I hope all my Canadian readers are enjoying this very fabulous long weekend! I am hoping to make it to the Heritage festival tomorrow, but it will be without Mike….we’ll see how that goes!
