The Clone Wars Character Encyclopedia

In celebration of May the 4th, DK Publishing was kind enough to send me a copy of the Clone Wars Encyclopedia. Once again I had to hunt a book down in order to review it, my children are getting far too smart and know what comes in those delightful packages from DK. While I was at work my mail was opened without me – federal offense, but try to tell them that – and the contents eagerly explored .

Now, for a Star Wars purist such as myself, I knew few of these characters. Fine, it’s rather my old age than so much the purist part, but truth be told I haven’t watched the show and my son has very infrequently. And for oldies like me, there are still the classic characters such as Obi-wan Kenobi, Jabba the Hut and R2-D2.

This is definitely a book for the new generation of Star Wars fans or the old generation who still love it and are up to date on what’s happening in the world of Star Wars.

My son would be that new generation, not growing up watching the movies as they came out, and as I don’t want to date myself that much, neither did I. Really.

He eagerly churned through this book like Darth Vader himself was going to take it away, devouring it with his beady little 7 year old eyes, since his mother is too cruel to let him watch the cartoon on a regular basis. Who needs to watch TV when you can read it in a book, I say. My children love my quips, I tell you.

Pages upon pages of cartoon Clone Wars characters, with their stats proudly displayed , animal to human, alien to…. well, it’s Star Wars so perhaps there are other forms of life even that perhaps I can’t name. Droid! Aha, yes, those droids! Even my old school brain remembers that.

If your son or daughter is a fan of the Clone Wars, this is definitely the book for them. It will keep them occupied for hours and to be honest, I see this one being sneaked out of the house in a certain little boy’s backpack this week, to share with his Star Wars crazed buddies at school.
