Hi, everyone. Welcome to The Recipe Roost! I’m so glad you found it!
An Idea Was Born
The idea for the Recipe Roost has been swirling around my grey matter for a really long time now. The more my readership numbers on The Kitchen Magpie grew, the more emails I received with people wanting to share their tried and true recipes. The more emails I received, the more emails I started reading that also had cooking questions in them. I desperately wanted to be able to reach out to all my readers and share their recipes, answer their questions and help them out. Alas, I am but one person, a busy mom of 2 with many hats to wear including fundraiser, school volunteer and household manager. The remainder of my time is filled with writing on The Kitchen Magpie and little else. By little else I mean cleaning. We all know I don’t clean.
How To Make Something So Complex Turn Into Something Very Simple!
What I didn’t want was another website. I wanted a website within my own that could be turned into a recipe submitting, social area that my readers could enjoy. Sure, I could build another website, but that takes away from me being an active part in the community of readers that I have grown to love. I needed a simple, user friendly site.
Want to search for a recipe? Just type the recipe in the big search field at the top. Take a gander through all the categories if you want to visually search something out. New recipes are being added all the time by members and myself, so pop by daily to check it out.
The Share A Recipe forms are the easiest we could possibly make them, allowing you to cut and paste. Being a food writer, I myself know that filling out one line at a time is too wasteful of my time. So for all of you who have websites, you can cut and paste your recipes into the Share a Recipe form easy as pie!
Of course, the best part of all that is of course, the recipe links back to your website if you have one and gives full credit to you, the recipe creator!
Become a Recipe Rooster!
When you sign up and become a member of the Recipe Roost it opens up a more social food world. The forums are here to help everyone out with questions, ideas and more in a positive environment. You can also connect with friends – literally by “friending” them- comment on recipes, find people with common food interests and make new friends. It’s about being social, sharing your recipes and having fun!
I also wanted to be able to showcase other food bloggers, I have been so lucky to get to know so many amazing people that this was important to me. Please, share your websites in your profiles! Brag about your newest amazing recipes! Share, share and share some more!
The Featured Recipe Rooster help shine the light on some amazing cooks out there, with or without websites.
Share Your Treasured Recipes
The reason that we are all here: Recipes. Sure, there are lots of recipe sites out there, but I wanted more intimate, I wanted recipes from people and food bloggers I know. I want to see ratings from friends of mine, not nameless internet people.
All recipes are welcome and a photo isn’t needed. It sure helps when we can see it, but I know that it’s not easy for everyone to upload pictures.
So submit your Grandma’s coconut cookie recipe and share the newest creation on your blog. Comment and review other recipes as you try them and make sure to check the forums to see if you can help anyone out!
This is your social recipe playground, so go out and have fun!
Love,
The Kitchen Magpie
