Well.

I knew that the framing was going to go fast but I was completely surprised this afternoon when the kids and I made our usual Thursday afternoon drive out to see the house.

If you call completely surprised having a panic attack and breathing into a paper bag so I didn’t pass out. That might be a slight exaggeration but it certainly is intimidating when one is in the process of trying to sell their current residence to see their to-be residence justlikethisallofasudden.

In the span of 7 days.

To think I believed it possible to be able to catch them the day they put the walls up. Ha! she says.

The reason that it has gone up so fast is that the walls are already constructed by the builder in their own factory – which I do believe is here in Edmonton- so they are literally craned up and onto the foundation into place, then the roof is put on. We were happy to hear that the walls were done this way, it allows for much better quality, built by the same people all the time and in fact the walls are so sealed and sturdy that the builder has to put in vents to allow ventilation. Out of all the builders, we were happiest with their green program, which to be honest, is the least that builders should be doing. It’s still a new house using tons of materials, but at least this lessens the guilt. Landmark is also trying to move towards Net-Zero houses within the next few years, something that I cannot imagine on a large scale -they are one of the bigger builders in Alberta- but I am eagerly waiting to see if they can do it.

On a side note, I cannot WAIT for my flash water heater, a tankless high efficiency water heater.  Never running out of hot water…I can’t imagine the luxury!

Wait. Yes, yes I can.

There is still a lot more to be done, months of work in fact,  but seeing the house like this did make my chest tighten up with a wee bit o’ panic, yes our house has only been listed barely 3 weeks, but it still makes me quiver inside with fear inside.

And I like panicking, I am rather adept at it you see, a professional.

We will be going inside soon, not only for a walkthrough with the builder but one by ourselves, perhaps this weekend and there will be pictures of course.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful windy week!

Love,

The Professional Panicker.

Holy mother of marzipan, that was fast. Looks great, and so does the green program.
