I Couldn’t Help It. They Followed Me Home.

I really had no choice, these gorgeous place mats just followed me home. They stalked my son and I, threw themselves into my arms at Home Sense, and I just couldn’t put them down. The main reason being is that I am a magpie who adores pretty things, but I am also a cheap magpie. They were on clearance for $1 for the set of 4. Not only are they my favorite summery colors of watermelon, lime, beach blue and lacy white, they are also a thick, great quality. And at 25 cents each, I was not leaving them.

So. Now I have 20 place mats in assorted happy colors and am thinking of things to do with them during the winter. I could fall back on embroidering them with names or initials, I even might attempt one set with small embroidered icons of some sort. But mainly I have been trying to think of things that I can make out of them.

Here’s what I have:

Sleeping bag for dolls.

A place mat purse for The Princess.

Scrapbook or Journal

A wall hanging for The Princess’s room, hung on a dowel and with an embroidered fairy/whatever she wants on it.

On the same note as above, let the kids make a personal banner for themselves with fabric glue and sparkles etc.

Any other suggestions? I am a poor seamstress, I enjoy sewing straight lines and that’s about it, so gettin’ all fancy and sewing and cutting is not going to happen. I am also not going to attack these until the winter months set in as well, but if I post things, then I remember I have them.  Faulty logic, I know.
