Children’s Book Review: Zoom In, Zoom Out

This innovative style of reference book had my kids and I captured at the first page, featuring the beady eye of a parrot fish glaring at you in extreme close-up. Each page that features a photograph of a large scene will have one small white box outlining a certain area of the picture. When you turn the page, you will “zoom in” on that piece of the photograph.

For example, there is a large picture of the rainforest in all its green glory with a small box encircling a pair of frogs. Turn the page and you are eyeball to eyeball with those little green guys, learning all about them. In this picture you will see another little box around the beautiful pink flowers and sure enough, turn the page and you are zoomed in on the inner workings of a hippeastrum flower.

It is definitely geared towards older children but the little “hide and seek” aspect of finding out what’s going to be on the next page had my daughter enjoying it as well.
