I had no idea that the beach we were headed to was the literal Surf City USA, I guess the waves there are the best for surfing, as well as an 8.5 mile white sand beautiful beach to find a spot to sit and watch. Yip, we cruised through LA to Anaheim and checked into our slum, er, I mean hotel Friday night. On our way driving down the coast to get to Anaheim, we made a detour so we were able to visit the Hearst Castle. 1. I love Peet's coffee, and have found my replacement for Timmy's while I am down here. Totally fantastic, dark, strong coffee. I am bringing back a bunch of beans so I can have some for a month or two when I get home. 2. Today we traveled to San Jose, about 30 miles away from where we are staying, and dropped Mike and the kids off at the Children's Discovery Museum. Everything here in this hilly, foggy but beautiful city, takes an entire day to visit, I see this now, very clearly, through the fog even. I love this city, I really do. The amount of kid-friendly things to do are astounding! Since we were crazy and pushed ourselves to get here early, we were able to get up...have breakfast....and then do something touristy for the morning. This is where we went back to, the scenic viewpoint, and it was well worth the slight backtracking and time that it took up. What an absolutely gorgeous drive it is through Montana. It has to be the most breathtaking scenery I have ever driven through, and I have gone through our own Rockies many times on our side of the border. This was just weird. What are the odds that as you run into a small city Walmart, aka the Airdrie one, that you are going to not only see a table stacked with a book that you wanted to read, but the author sitting at said table doing a book signing? Well, even tho my inner voice is kinda shrieking at me 2.5 days of driving with 2 kids under 5 and your father in the same car are you insane woman, we're off on the first leg of our trip this morning!
