The Families That Fish Together….

mandd

I thought I would start out this post with a picture of my handsome hunny, Mr Magpie. I liked it. He's rather cute. I am also rather fond of him most times, he's fun to be around, happens to be the father of my children and generally not a bad guy at all. Oh, the flattery I heap upon this man. How does he take it? But truly, even with the stress of moving to a new house, starting the kids in … [Read more...]

My Little Fisher Girl

buds

There's definitely something about watching your dad teach your children to fish, but I am not so sure I can put a name to it. That certain something makes your heart clench in your chest with love for both of them, tears start to burn ever so slightly at the back of your eyes and all the memories of fishing with your father come flooding back to the forefront of your mind. If you … [Read more...]

Dinner With Old Friends

Forgive not only my lateness, but the crummy pictures as well. Blame it on the wine, I spent the week in BC soaking in some form of alcohol when we weren't at the beach. True story. There's a post coming on some of the wines I drank that week. What, you think I wouldn't take pictures? Tsk tsk, you mustn't know me that well. A luck, fate or chance would have it, we were at the campground … [Read more...]

BC Trip: The Cabin

The brand spankin' new cabin that we stayed in, or I suppose condo would be the more appropriate term, was gorgeous. Almost too good for us. Beautiful laminate floors, wonderful new beds, a new kitchen complete with dishwasher, stove and fridge and a bathroom large enough to fit a whole family shaking out sand at the end of the day. I didn't get any pictures of the kitchen, how I don't … [Read more...]

Always Look Before You Buy

ALWAYS READ THE T-SHIRT. Here's a good life lesson for you, always read the t-shirt you are buying. Even if it's 10 o'clock at night, it's right before vacation and you are panic shopping because the husband doesn't have any sleeveless tees. Even if you just grab the first set of two and run to the counter with them. Even if you just want to get the hell out of that store and get to … [Read more...]

The Dips Taking a Dip

swimming_512x384

First thing we did when we rolled into the campground, other than throwing our stuff in the cabin, was to get changed and head out to the lake. Nothing, and I truly mean nothing, is better after 10 hours in the car driving, than a cold dip in the lake. Or make that a tepid dip in the lake. While I can't pin down that Christina Lake is the warmest lake in Canada, I CAN find, in more than one … [Read more...]
